Romantic Road - The Cycle Route - 2010

DAY 01: WUERZBURG – BAD MERGENTHEIM (58 km/36 miles)
Morning pick-up of rental bikes in city center of Wuerzburg. Your luggage will be sent ahead to your hotel in Bad Mergentheim and you begin your adventure cycling to Bad Mergentheim! Hotel Deutschmeister or similar B

DAY 02: BAD MERGENTHEIM – ROTHENBURG (50 km/31 miles)
Each day after breakfast leave your luggage at the reception desk by 09:00 a.m. It will be picked up during the day and brought to the next hotel. Departure via “Liebliches Taubertal” bicycle path, passing by small, historical villages and beautiful countryside on the way to Rothenburg, a medieval jewel of Germany, where in the evening you can join the city walk with the Night Watchman (a voucher is included in your tour documentation). Hotel Schranne or similar. B

DAY 03: ROTHENBURG – SCHILLINGSFUERST – FEUCHTWANGEN (32 km/20 miles)
In the morning farewell to Rothenberg as your leave for Schillingsfuerst with its magnificent landmark Baroque castle. Next stop is at Feuchtwangen with history dating back to a Benedictine Monastery founded in the 8th century. Hotel Lamm or similar. B

DAY 04: FEUCHTWANGEN - DINKELSBUEHL (28 km/ 17 miles)
After breakfast your next day of cycling day takes you from Feuchtwangen to Dinkelsbühl along bike paths that lead through forests and pass by many small ponds. After arriving to Dinkelsbuehl, check in at your hotel and in the evening you are invited to join a city walk with the Nightwatchman. This nighttime tour is free of charge the meeting point is at St. George’s Minster at 9:00 p.m. Hotel Goldene Kanne or similar. B

DAY 05: DINKELSBUEHL – NOERDLINGEN (38 km/24 miles)
On the way from Dinkelsbuehl to Noerdlingen your route follows the Woernitz River for a short while before continuing to the Noerdlinger Ries. Noerdlingen is the only town in Germany where you can walk the walls and battlements all the way round. The historic town is dominated by the 100 yard high bell tower of St. George church. In the early afternoon (time to be confirmed), you return your rental bikes to our bus driver in Noerdlingen who will take the bikes back to Wuerzburg. B
